I just want to add a file to my class. How do I do that ?
A
Under the Build tab in Blackboard's Home Page, Learning
Module or Folder use the following step to add a file:

    1. Click on the Add a File button

    2. Select Browse for Files.

    3. Browse for the file you want from your computer, My
       files or from another Class

    4. The file you select will be added to your page and to
        your class files.
    
    5. You can change the link for the file by clicking on
        the action link next to it.

How can I delete a student from the Grade Book in 
Blackboard CE ?
A
It is not possible to delete a student in Blackboard CE.
Instead you can Unenroll the student and then hide
Unenrolled members. 

To Unenroll a student:

    1. In Blackboard's Grade Book check the selection box of
        the student that you wish to Unenroll

    2. Click Unenroll at the bottom of the page

    3. A dialog box will appear asking if you are sure Click OK

    4. The student is now Unenrolled and will appear in red
        on the Grade Book.

To Hide Unenrolled members:
   
    1.  In Blackboard's Grade Book Click on Grade Book
         Options

    2. Click on Hide Unenrolled Member Data

    3. Unrolled members are now hidden. Should you ever
        need to see the unenrolled members in the future click
        on Show All Members under the Grade Book Options in
        the Grade Book.

I've added links to my course but they don't show up. What's 
going on ?
A
Make sure you don't have any unusual characters in your title 
Blackboard does not like the number sign or other symbols.

How do I edit my course headers in Blackboard ?
A
It is possible to have headers in both the Home Page and 
Folders to Edit them Click on the Page Options and Edit 
Headers.

If you have been using the course header to post 
announcement you should consider using the new 
Announcement tool

How do I access Blackboard ?
A

Blackboard is accessed through
https://learn.nmsu.edu

You will need your NMSU ID and password to sign on.

 Can I use the old WebCT clip_art in my course ?
A
Yes Zip and download the clip_art folder from WebCT to your
Desktop. Then upload the zip file into Blackboard and
extract. The clip art is now available for your use.

How do I add a co-designer, an instructor or a teaching 
assistant to my course ?
A
To add a member:
   1.Go the Grade Book in Blackboard

   2. Click on Enroll 

   3. Enter User name and select desired role

   4. Click on Enroll

   5. Click on Save

How do I reorder items in my Content Area (Home Page) or 
Folders ?
A
To reorder items in The Content Area:

1. From the Build tab, click on Page Options in the Content
    Area.

2. Click on Go to Power View.

3. Check the selection box of the item/items that need to be
    moved

4.Click the little yellow icon next to the item where you want
   the selected items to be moved to.

5. Click on Move Selected Items Above or Move Selected
    Items Below depending on where you wish the items 
    moved to in relation to the little yellow icon.

How do I unhide (show) a column that has been hidden in the 
Grade Book ?
A
To unhide (show) a previously hidden column in Grade Book:

1. In the Grade Book Click on Reorder Columns

2. Click on Show Item for the Column that you wish to unhide.

How can I move an assessment from one class to another ?
A
To move an assesment from one class to another is a two 
part procedure (1) Export the assessment from one course 
and (2) Import the assessment to the other course.

Exporting the assessment:

1. From the Build tab Click on the Assessment tool.

2. Check the selection box of the assessment/assessments
    you want to export.

3. Click on the Export button below your list of assessments.

4. Save the assessmnt to MY Files. That way it will be 
    available to add to any of your courses.

Importing the assessment:

1. Fron the Build tab on the course you wish to import the
    assessment to Click on Manage Course.

2. Click on Import.

3. Browse out the exported file in MY Files and select it.

4. The assessment/assessments will be imported and placed 
on your Assessment page (tool) and in your class files under 
Imported Resources.

How do I create a new Blackboard CE 8 course ?

To create a new Blackboard CE 8 course a DACC Course Request
form must be completed Click on the link below to go

Can a blackboard course be "reset" in case instructor makes
wrong choice on initial startup ( selecting blank course as
opposed to copy content from another course?
A
If a users click on the wrong option on the Assign Content
screen this course will have to be deleted and then pushed
back through the Banner side. Instructor would contact
vlit@nmsu.edu and we will start the process.

What happens when there is a change of instructor?
A
If there is a change in instructor this change must be made
in Banner first, then it will be reflected automatically in
Blackboard.

what happens when the course instructor is defined as TBA?
A
Courses with an instructor defined as TBA will be created,
but will not be accessible by the students until an
instructor has been assigned to it through Banner and that
instructor then makes the course available to students.

When is the date of creation for Fall Semster (when do you
create the course based on banner data )?

A
We are expecting a live date on the week of Aug. 3 and then
banner data will be updated every night.

How will courses be named- CRN, prefix, section, and name?

You must make the course available to students,
from the Build Tab Click on:
                 Manage Course 
                          Settings
                                 Learning Context
using the drop menus select " Always available" or "use term
setting"

Select Grade book from Instructor Tools.

On the far right click on “Grade Book Options” and

In Assignment Dropbox, submission status is marked Missed
even though the student submitted the assignment on time, a
day before the due date. Also, the attachment is still there
in the dropbox.
A
When a student missed the cut off date for the assignment,
Blackboard automatically submits the assignment for them and
assigns it the status of missed.

We have to believe that the student does believe that they
did submit the assignment correctly, however we have seen
instances where they did not click the submit button.
